Groundwater Vulnerability Model

Planners, developers, conservationists, and water managers use this map to support proactive development planning, prioritize infrastructure improvements and protect fragile drinking-water resources for the citizens of Leon County. It is also used to protect Wakulla Spring, the largest, single, freshwater spring in the world.

Combining information about locations of known vulnerability with data representing the natural system, we developed a probability model displaying areas where groundwater has a higher likelihood of becoming adversely affected from activities at land surface.
